Netball Wellington Centre - Junior Academy

Junior Netball 2009
Our Junior Netball Programmes run throughout the year. We are really proud to produce a range of different programmes designed in developing skills for all different levels and ages.
We feel strongly about participation but also value the need for a higher competitive nature, so we have set about developing our programmes to produce these different aspects of our game.

Start Dates:
Term One: Monday 16th February 2009
Term Two: Monday 4th May 2009
Term Three: Monday 3rd August 2009
Term Four: Monday 26th October 2009

The Netball Academy runs for 6 weeks in each term.

The Academy is run by Specially Trained Coaches for the programme.

Each session is fast paced, interesting and fun. The players are taught the importance of warm ups and cooling down and in between cover movement skills and fitness, ball skills, shooting, attacking and defending. A modified game at the end of each session gives the players the chance to get some hands on practice of the skills they have learnt during the session.

After School Programmes

A fun based learning programme for 5 to 10 year olds.

Start Dates:
Term One: Monday 23rd February 2009
Term Two: Monday 11th May 2009
Term Three: Monday 10th August 2009

The After School Programme runs for 6 weeks in each term.

Our Fun Ferns programme is for 5 - 7year old boys and girls who want to play netball. Children join the programme as individuals, not as a team, and the emphasis is on participation, developing skills and having fun! The focus is on learning the basic physical skills - passing, catching, jumping, running - as well as social skills and positive attitudes (fair play) in a fun environment of games and activities.

Our Future Ferns programme is for 8 - 10year old boys and girls. While the emphasis is still on fun and active participation, the skill development is now on more netball specific movements and passing skills. Players are given opportunities to play in all seven positions so that a wider range of skills can be developed.
