Netball Wellington Centre invites interested coaches to take up the opportunity to get involved with coaching our 2024 representative teams.
We currently seek applicants for Lead Coach roles.
We encourage you to please have a good look over the role descriptions that interest you and thoroughly check the commitment dates listed before applying.

Positions within our Representative Team Management are a pathway opportunity for all coaches and managers wishing to further their coaching careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at Centre level. We provide an exciting chance to work alongside other experienced individuals while learning from each other. Roles are in a volunteer capacity however provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop yourself. Travel and accommodation will be covered for each team management official to attend most away fixtures and tournaments.
We currently seek keen applicants for the positions of Lead Coach for the following range of teams:
- U16 1st Team (Black)
- U16 2nd Team (Gold)
- U18 1st Team (Black)
- U18 2nd Team (Gold)
- Open Grade Team
Applications for Assistant Coach and Team Manager will open late January 2024.
2024 NWC Representative Dates and Commitments
To assist with confirming your availability and give due consideration to time commitments prior to applying for any roles, please find an indication of key commitments and dates below:
Under 16
Italicised events/dates TBC. Possibility for dates to be reviewed/added.
U16 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Netball Courts. Some flexibility for change possible.
Under 18
Italicised events/dates TBC. Possibility for dates to be reviewed/added.
- U18 Tryouts Tuesday 2nd April 6-8pm, Sunday 7th April 10am-12pm & Tuesday 9th April 6-8pm 2024 at Hataitai Courts.
- Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd June 2024 - Marjorie Jenden Tournament hosted by Netball Wairarapa at Wairarapa Trusthouse Netball Centre, 15 Colombo Road, Masterton
- Sunday 9th June 2024 – Betty Steffensen Tournament hosted by Netball Manawatu held at Vautier Park in Palmerston North.
- Sunday 23rd June 2024 – Dale Wortman Invitational Fixture hosted by Netball Wellington Centre held at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington.
- Monday 15th to Thursday 18th July 2024 – Netball NZ U18 Champs hosted by Dunedin Netball Centre at the Edgar Centre, Dunedin (travel dates: depart Sunday 14th, Gold team return Thursday 18th July, Black team return Friday 19th July).

- Open Grade Trials Tuesday 16th July 6-8pm & Sunday 21st July 9.30–11.30am held at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington.
- Sunday 4th OR 11th August 2024 – Manawatu Open Grade Fixture hosted by Netball Manawatu held in Palmerston North.
- Sunday 18th OR 25th August 2024 – NWC Open Grade Invitational Fixture hosted by Netball Wellington Centre at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington.
- Tuesday 10th to Saturday 14th September 2024 – NetballSmart NZ Open Champs hosted by Papakura Netball at the Pulman Arena (travel dates: depart Monday 9th September, return Saturday 14th September).
Open Grade trainings traditionally held Sunday mornings 9.30am -11.30am and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre. Some flexibility for change possible.
Additional possible rep team commitments:
- Team fundraising ventures to be confirmed during 2024
- Observe U16/U18 players attending 2024 pre-season Netball Season Kick-Start programme at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre (Term 1 – six weeks. Starts Tuesday 13 February to Tuesday 19 March 4.30pm to 6pm). There will be the opportunity to observe these sessions and possibly contribute to planning in consultation with Netball Wellington Centre.
Interested applicants should please:

- Carefully refer to and check your availability against commitment dates.
- Complete an online application form in full and return as soon as able.
- Attend an interview for this position if required.
- Consent to a police check being conducted for successful candidates.
- Make yourself available to attend meeting/s prior to and after tryouts/trials.
- Attend all tryouts and pre-season observation to confirm player selection (if appointed Selector).
- Respond to requests from Netball Wellington Centre in a timely manner.
Applicants must also be open to attending a debrief interview/meeting at the end of the representative season.
