As a government entity, Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa is proud to be the guardian of our country's play, active recreation and sporting system, from grassroots to elite sport. We do this through partnerships with national sport and recreation organisations, regional sports trusts, central government bodies, councils and other key stakeholders.

Reporting to the Sport Development Lead, the National Consultant - Participation and Development Opportunities is an important leadership position in the Sport Development Team and externally to sport partners and the wider sector within Aotearoa.

Sport is making exciting progress shaping their offerings to meet the holistic needs of all rangatahi, as well as providing the right support to help young athletes reach their potential at the right time as adults.

This role will provide leadership to the sport sector promoting the Balance is Better Philosophy and provide partner support for sport system changes to ensure all young people receive quality experiences in sport.

The successful individual will have national, regional and local mana, experience and knowledge of the sport system and wider sport sector. The successful team member will be a critical thinker and have comprehensive understanding of the wider value of sport to society and experience in leading successful sport system challenges.
