The Rainbow Games 2024 is a new multi-sport event coming to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland in 2024. With 14 sports lined up to be a part of the programme, the Games will take place at the Trusts Stadium over six days. The inaugural event will target rainbow peoples (and allies) from New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands, with an aim of enhancing the social connection among the rainbow community and with the sporting sector. The event also provides a major sports tourism opportunity, with a longer term aim of becoming an established biennial event in Auckland, and beyond.

The Rainbow Games 2024 are a product of the Pacific Rainbow Games Trust, a non-profit charitable trust run for, and by, members of Auckland's rainbow communities. There are currently seven Board members and one full-time employee (event director) with an aim of expanding to a team of six, based in Tāmaki Makaurau.

The Trust will engage with key government agencies on programs developed around inclusiveness and participation of the LGBTQIA+; oversee the delivery and legacy outcomes of the 2024 games held in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. At the completion of the 2024 Games, The Trust will continue to govern while working with Rainbow communities to provide policy and direction to the management of a potential long-term home-grown event.

The Sport Delivery Officer role is a junior level position, responsible for supporting the Operations Manager with responsibilities related to sports partners and delivery agencies for all sporting codes, recruiting volunteers, assisting with some social media and communication-related tactics, consistently setting high standards of event delivery and exceeding participant expectations.

The role will be office based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland CBD, with flexible working arrangements  negotiable. We are seeking a person with relevant experience and emphatic levels of enthusiasm for sport, events and the development of rainbow communities.
