Programme Overview
Coaching for Impact is a Sport NZ-designed initiative. Introduced in 2021, CFI is an integrated coach development programme with the primary objective of growing a collaborative network of coaches who influence positive change in youth sport. The programme aligns with the Sport NZ Balance is Better philosophy and is part of a broader suite of Sport NZ coaching initiatives aimed at ensuring all rangatahi receive quality experiences in sport. The next iteration is being led by NZC, with the support of Sport NZ and other National Sporting Organisations.

For 2026 NZ Cricket is excited to have the opportunity to lead the next iteration of Coaching For Impact, which up until now has been a Sport NZ led initiative.

Who can apply
Coaching for Impact is open to all experienced New Zealand coaches from any sporting code who are actively coaching secondary school age athletes (age 13-18) in a school, club, regional or national sport organisation (or similar).

Three or more years coaching experience is recommended, along with a history of continuous learning and development. You will need to be a committed learner and be willing to invest time in your own development. 

Application process
Coaching for Impact is a free programme.
Applications open Monday 3 November, 2025
Applications close Monday 21 November, 2025 at 5pm.

The programme is limited to 50 spaces - 25 in North Island programme and 25 in South Island programme.
You will be notified if you have been selected prior to 16th January, 2026.

Please note that all applications must be endorsed by a school, club, regional or national sport organisation. NZC will contact them for further details regarding your eligibility. 

2026-2027 Dates
The following dates have been set out for the 2026 - 2027 Coaching For Impact Programme:

• Introductory session hosted virtually on Monday the 23rd of February 2026, 7.30 - 8.30pm.
• Learning camp 1: Sun 15th March, 2026 (9am - 4pm)
• Learning camp 2: Sun 29th March, 2026 (9am - 4pm)
• Learning camp 3: Sat 12th - Sun 13th September, 2026 (9am - 4pm both days)
• Learning camp 4: Sat 3rd - Sun 4th April, 2027 (9am - 4pm both days)

Further Information
The program will be delivered to a North Island cohort of coaches centered in Wellington.
The South Island cohort of coaches will be centered in Christchurch.
If you are based outside of these cities, any cost associated with participating in the program will be covered by yourself and/or the organisation you coach for.
Both cohorts will have a maximum number of 25 coaches selected to be a part of the programme.
