Player rotation spreadsheets for Year 3-8

If you're a coach who would appreciate a little help on how to work out fair player rotations in keeping with Netball New Zealand recommendations then these spreadsheets may be of help to you.

At Year 3&4 (5-a-side netball) and Year 5&6 (6-a-side netball) it is wise to rotate players in order to allow them fair exposure and learning in each of the A, C, & D positions.

Come Year 7&8 (7-a-side netball) it is okay to have a preference for a certain area of the court however as a coach please remain mindful that age and stage may bring about changes in height, speed, and coordination.  These changes also vary between boys and girls therefore to aid growing children it is wise to enable players to be exposed to each different position where possible.  By the end of the season they may express a preference yet especially when transitioning from the 6-a-side to 7-a-side game, it's all about exploration and learning the boundaries of the new, more defined on-court roles during the 7-a-side game.

All you need to do is download the relevant spreadsheet with respect to the number of players in your team, enter your player names on Tab 1 and let the automatic formulas do the rest.
Spreadsheets include:
5-a-side game options for 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 players per team.
6-a-side game options for 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 players per team.
7-a-side game options for 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 players per team.

All the best for a smooth season of player rotations ahead!

Upon downloading, the spreadsheet may automatically open in Protected View.

5v5 and 6v6 rotations designed for half-time substitutions - two cycles of rotations in one game.
This allows each player to focus on performing their role while limiting confusion.
If playing quarters the player will spend two quarters in the same position. This allows them an added chance to take on board feedback to adjust their play during the game.

If prefer to rotate each quarter, use up to four cycles of prescribed rotations in one game.

Unfortunately we've not discovered an App that will further automate this process and we're not in the position to create our own yet look forward to someone taking the initiative!
