Introductory Umpire Holiday Programme

Make the most of your holiday break to become a more confident umpire!

A good opportunity for first-timers to gain a gentle introduction to rule application while those familiar with umpiring get the chance to further their knowledge and skills.  

Multiple opportunities to attend annually:

January:  Wednesday 14 January 2026

April:  Wednesday 15 April 2026

July:  Thursday 16 July 2026

Full day from 9am to 3pm
Venue: Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, 72 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie, Wellington
All genders, ability/disability welcome from Year 8 upwards

Morning sessions focus on theory moving into practical in the afternoon.

Tutors:
Accredited members of our Netball Wellington Centre Umpire Group with ongoing support.

• The rules explained
• Conduct of the game
• Dual control umpiring & hand signals
• Body positioning
• Game & whistle protocol
• Idenfity minor/major infringements
• Confidence on court
• Chance to talk through umpire-specific scenarios
• Where to next - learn more about NWC Umpire Pathway

Registrations open one month ahead of the each holiday session.
