Halberg Foundation is an iconic charity that was started by Sir Murray Halberg in 1963 to ensure that all young people with physical disabilities have equal opportunity to participate in sport and recreation. 

The Halberg Awards is the premier sports awards event for New Zealand held in February of each year.  This is one of the key fundraising events for the Halberg Foundation that helps to support the work of our advisory team throughout New Zealand.

This role will be to lead the event and fundraising aspects of the organisation including developing the strategy to support the financial objectives of Halberg, ensure the operational delivery of different events, manage the functions to help grow the revenue making opportunities in collaboration with our stakeholders. 

The role will also oversee new fundraising opportunities from creation through to development/delivery and evaluation.  To identify growth in existing fundraising events and ensure that the Halberg Awards is delivered at an exceptional level and seamlessly to an inhouse audience and a live broadcast audience.  To work with Head of Operations in relation to strategy and management of funding opportunities.

You will need to create, develop and maintain positive, sustainable relationships with all key stakeholders and partners.  Ideally have a minimum of five years' experience in event management including live broadcast delivery.  Have hands-on event delivery experience - excellent project management and team leadership skills, ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment and make and communicate decisions clearly.  Be able to demonstrate the ability to design and deliver event/ fundraising programmes.  Ability to work collaboratively and get support and buy-in from the wider team and stakeholders to get the best results.
