Netball Australia are excited to start the search for our next team member to undertake the position of Head of Suncorp Super Netball and Events which is responsible for operational delivery and strategic performance of Suncorp Super Netball, and the delivery of the local and international events owned by Netball Australia.

This position is a full-time contract & will be based at our head office at Netball Australia in vibrant Fitzroy, Victoria. Our Teams work flexibly, and we encourage the successful applicant to discuss flexible working options with their new Manager in line with our Flexible Working Policy.

Who are we looking for?

You are passionate about sport, about people and enthusiastic about delivering the highest quality event experience to further the development of the SSN & Netball Australia’s commercial vision.

Some of your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Provide strong leadership, direction, and effective staff management to ensure continuous improvement and excelling performance of the SSN & Events team.
• Apply a creative mind-set to lead and achieve growth and change throughout the League
• Foster collaborative partnerships between Netball Australia, SSN Teams, Sport Australia, 
• Government Departments, and other system stakeholders to grow the game

SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL (SSN) 

• Be responsible for the management of SSN and work in an integrated and 
• collaborative work style with Netball Australia workforce to create and implement strategic priorities
  • Participate on the future strategy for the SSN competition 
  • Oversee stakeholder relationships with SSN Teams at HPM & Commercial Level, to ensure alignment of objectives and strategic direction and to ensure the successful outcomes for Netball in Australia 
• Develop and manage positive and productive partnerships with businesses, the government and other organisations that contribute to SSN and Netball Australia’s resources
• Participate in the delivery of the financial performance of SSN 
• Represent SSN and Netball Australia in a range of external forums including with government, corporate partners, and in community initiatives

EVENTS

• Contribute to the work of Netball Australia to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of programs
• Oversee Event Specialists management and leadership of Origin Diamonds National and International Events and Domestic and Community Event staff execution
• Manage Event and Commercial Partner relationships for SSN, International and Domestic Events with an innovative and collaborative mind-set leading to consistent and high calibre execution
• Develop and be accountable to key performance indicators that hold the SSN & Events Team to account in terms of delivery
• Develop robust operational management for Event Delivery
• Support the development and sharing of knowledge of leading-edge stakeholder service and initiate action within the Netball ecosystem of Australia

Key Position Requirements:

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a related field of employment
• Demonstrated alignment with NA Values
• A tertiary qualification in a related discipline and/or broad experiences in the development of sporting programs
• Strong strategic capabilities and proven experience in the deliver operational objectives in line Netball Australia
• Excellent leadership qualities including the ability to set clear direction; motivate others and solve conflicts
• An ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders
• Solid financial acumen, including the experience in delivering to a P&L
• A professional and personable approach in all dealings
• Ability to work collaboratively and strategically with the Executive team 
• Demonstrated management of people and teams, including people development and strong commitment to contributing positively to cultural awareness
• Inclusive and supportive leadership style to build connectedness and collaboration amongst the team
• Innovative and confident approach to meeting changing business challenges
• A passion for sport at all levels.

Desirable:

• Masters' qualification
• Significant Senior Management experience in a medium-sized organisation
• Policy and strategy develop experience at national level
• Professional membership of a relevant body would be an advantage
