Evo Netball runs the only netball programme in the country. We have 150 girls enrolled in our "core programme" aged 6 to 19 years old and come from a variety of schools in Doha. This is made up of 9 development teams who play socially and are learning about the game. They attend twice a week- 1 technical/ tactical session and 1 internal game. We have 4 academy teams who attend 3 times a week - 1 technical/ tactical session, 1 s and c, and 1 external game. Additional evets are often hosted such as tournaments, game nights, and themed days. They are passionate, friendly, and a diverse group of players and form the majority of our coaching.
We also run the netball league for 28 teams ranging from social to competitive netball across 2 nights for around 30 weeks of the year. This is to create opportunity for our academy players to play competitive matches. We have been running this for 3 years now and are an established competition. We do have a pool of paid umpires who support each week. Umpiring is an area to be developed.
Coming out of covid, we are aiming to attend a lot of international tournaments for our academy and adult teams. This year we attended a tournament in Dubai and have several events lined up for the 2023/24 season. We support a lot of the school events in Qatar, which we use as a talent ID opportunity.
