Permanent, full time position, starting Term 1, 2024

St Mary's College is a well resourced state-integrated all-girls Catholic secondary school (year 9-13) in central Wellington.  We are a culturally diverse school with a roll of approximately 550 students and a strong sense of community.  St Mary’s has an expansive sports programme and a reputation for sporting excellence.

We are looking for a permanent full time Director of Sport to bring leadership, vision and energy to our sports department and to ensure the effective delivery of our sports programme.

Key objectives of the position include:

• Deliver the annual sports programme, achieving short term goals each year and working progressively to advance the school’s longer term strategic goals in sport; 
• Deliver an effective and engaging sports programme through efficient administration, monitoring, organisation, and communications;
• Support the school’s values, culture and ethos through the delivery of the sports programme;
• Lead, inspire, and motivate sports teams and individuals to demonstrate a strong personal commitment to school-wide values;
• Ensure all sport and physical recreation activities are delivered in accordance with school policies.

The Director of Sport reports directly to the Principal and is assisted by a part time administrator.  The Director may be either a registered teacher (with teaching hours to be negotiated) or a specialist administrator.

Flexibility is required in this position as there will be times when travel or attendance at events outside of usual working hours is required.
