The Sunshine Coast Lightning netball franchise participates in the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) league. Netball is the largest female participation sport in Australia. The SSN league is widely recognised as the premier professional netball club competition in the world. Sunshine Coast Lightning is the only regional netball Club within the SSN competition and has experienced substantial growth and success in its short history.
About the role
A rare and exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, collaborative and driven Head of Performance to join our small and dedicated team, based on the Sunshine Coast.
Reporting to the CEO - Storm group, this role will be responsible for the leadership of the Club’s High-Performance Program, delivering a strategy that drives exceptional performance, high standards, accountability, continuous improvement, and a world class environment for the Club’s elite athletes to deliver sustained success.
The Head of Performance will develop the strategic framework for the program and drive a vision that inspires the Performance team, as well as be responsible for managing each discipline. They will ensure that the program’s components are fully integrated with one another, fostering collaboration with each performance team member. The performance program encompasses Lightning’s SSN team (including training partners), our SSN Reserves team and our affiliated State League team (Sapphires Series).
The Head of Performance holds accountability for numerous elements including, but not limited to high performance operations, load management, strength and conditioning, squad planning, stakeholder engagement and some administrative duties.
Proven experience to collaboratively with key stakeholders, including the Head Coach, performance and netball staff, service providers and athletes, as well the natural ability to communicate effectively and quickly build trust and rapport will be key to success in this role.
Due to the nature of our industry, this role will be required to work on game day and at nominated Club events, which will require some weekend and evening availability, and travel in season.
