
We are seeking aspiring Strength & Conditioning Coaches to participate in the 2025-2026 HPSNZ Strength & Conditioning Internship Programme. This is a voluntary position, with flexible hours, that is offered at our Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin HPSNZ centres.
The programme will provide an opportunity for interns to observe, practice, and grow within a high performance sport setting. Further developing their confidence and industry skill sets to assist progression into a career in Strength & Conditioning. Successful applicants will build on their underpinning knowledge and generic competency skills, using an experiential based learning approach that is mentored and facilitated by their intern manager.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for Strength & Conditioning, good communication skills and an ability to develop successful relationships. It is preferred that applicants have a sport science or related degree, with competency in training techniques and they are undertaking post-grad study or are working to complete a sport science or related degree with strong practical experiences to draw on.
Please include in your CV and cover letter, your leadership experiences, strengths, career aspirations, specific sports and types of training you want to observe, and the desired internship location.
FTE: No minimum hours required, with the number of hours mutually agreed between the intern and intern manager.
The Strength & Conditioning Internship is restricted to NZ residents only.
Payment: Unpaid, voluntary
Start date: September 2025
End date: May 2026 (or earlier as agreed by both parties)
