Job responsibilities

As the Venue General Manager, you will work closely with the Venue Operations Senior Manager, New Zealand to ensure that the stadium is presented in accordance with the FIFA Hosting Requirements and will take the lead on the successful operational delivery of all FWWC2023 football matches and non-match day activities at the stadium.

This position has a coordinating, facilitating, arbitrating and management role at the Stadium and is ultimately responsible together with the Venue Operations Senior Manager and Head of Operations for the event planning at the venue, the preparation for operational readiness and the on-site implementation, in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.

Job duties

Your role as Venue General Manager includes the following responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operational delivery of each match day and non-match day at the venue.
• Liaise with all FWWC2023 operational functional areas including Marketing Rights Delivery, Technical Services & Overlay and Infotainment, as well as other functional areas such as Competitions (Team Services), Services (Logistics, Transport, Guest Management) and Safety, Security & Access, to ensure the smooth, efficient and effective operation at the venue for all constituent groups.  Closely liaise with other FIFA functional areas such as Accreditation, Hospitality, Broadcast, Football Technology, Media, Event IT, Ticketing, Pitch Management, Workforce and Volunteer Management.
• Establish constructive communication channels between the FWWC2023 local entity, venue and local authorities and stakeholders.
• Co-ordinate with all stakeholders (i.e. Host City authorities, venue operators, public transport, police & emergency services) at a venue level through regular coordinated meetings and/or workshops, in order to ensure the smooth running of events at the venue.
• Integrate all relevant operational plans into effective venue plans.
• Assess and validate FIFA's event requirements to the reality of the venue.
• Integrate all relevant functional area operational plans into the stadium environment.
• Identify risk and mitigation measures across the venue.
• Contribute to project management and knowledge management initiatives including event debriefs, and knowledge capture and documentation activities
• Contribute to workshops, seminars and meetings with FIFA, FWWC2023 Local Entity, Host Country and site authorities.
• Coordinate
• policies, requirements and planning with FIFA, FWWC2023 Entity, Host Country and site authorities.
• Co-ordination, planning and delivery of official test events.
• Plan, manage and implement a good quality and cost-efficient on-site support, service and operations for all relevant FIFA departments as well as other stakeholders (i.e. sponsors, service providers, etc.).
• Organize and lead several venue tours.

Qualifications & experience

You will have a minimum 6 years of management experience in stadium operations for professional sports clubs and/or venue management in the organization of major sporting events. You will also have a strong knowledge of event planning and event project management processes. Experience or knowledge of the stadium will be an added benefit.

Skills

This position requires a person to have strong administrative and IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capacity to make key decisions for the business through critical problem-solving skills and an ability to use sound judgement. You will also have the ability to cope in an international, demanding and changing environment and be able to adapt and work well with people of other cultures and backgrounds.
